During this 75-minute outdoor program for schools, students will interact with live, costumed interpreters who will demonstrate and discuss many aspects of pioneer life—fur trapping and trading, beeswax candle making, blacksmithing, weaving and knitting, herb gardening, and medical practices. Additional themes are explored as students rotate through each station, including ways in which Native Americans and early African American settlers impacted the development of the region.
