School Program: Cabin Days

October 30 - October 31

With the Navarre Cabin now on The History Museum’s campus, Cabin Days is once again offered for schools. During this 75-minute outdoor program, students can interact with costumed interpreters demonstrating and discussing such aspects of pioneer life as fur trapping and trading, beeswax candle making, blacksmithing, weaving and knitting, herb gardening, and medical practices. Students can also explore additional themes, including ways in which Native Americans and early African American settlers impacted the development of the region. Tours of the Navarre Cabin are part of the experience. To reserve times for classes, contact the Education Department at (574) 235-9664, ext. 6234 or
