Museums for All
The History Museum and the Studebaker National Museum are joining with institutions across the country in the Museums for All program. Visitors who present their EBT card will receive free admission to The History Museum and the Studebaker National Museum.
Directions and Parking
The History Museum’s postal address is 808 West Washington Street, South Bend, IN 46601. However, the main entrances to The History Museum and the Studebaker National Museum are located on Thomas Street, which is between Washington Street and Western Avenue (one block south of Washington Street).

Directions
From the I-80/90 Toll Road
Take exit 77 on U.S. 33/Bus 31 into downtown South Bend. It becomes Main Street. Turn right onto Washington Street and go to Chapin Street. Turn left onto Chapin and go to Thomas Street. Turn right onto Thomas Street, and you’ll be at our front entrance and parking lot.
From the South on U.S. 31
Take Bus 31 north to Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington Street and go to Chapin Street. Turn left onto Chapin and go to Thomas Street. Turn right onto Thomas Street, and you’ll be at our front entrance and parking lot.
From the East on the U.S. 20 Bypass
Take the Michigan Street exit and continue north on Michigan Street into downtown South Bend. Continue on Michigan Street as it curves into Saint Joseph Street. Turn left at Washington Street. Continue approximately 10 blocks to Chapin Street (2 blocks past Tippecanoe Place Restaurant). Turn left onto Chapin and go 2 blocks to Thomas Street. Turn right onto Thomas Street, and you’ll be at our front entrance and parking lot.
From the West on the 31 Bypass
Take the South Bend Regional Airport exit and continue east on Lincoln-Way West approximately 3 miles to Chapin Street (also known as Martin Luther King Blvd.) Turn right on Chapin Street. Continue approximately 5 blocks to Thomas Street (2 blocks past Washington Street). Turn right onto Thomas Street, and you’ll be at our front entrance and parking lot.

Parking
A spacious, well-lighted parking area is located on Thomas Street, right outside the front doors of The History Museum. Additional parking can be found in two adjacent areas. There are special areas close by for bus parking.
