150 Ways To Love Your History
Through an exciting array of exhibits, programs, projects, and initiatives, The History Museum is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2017. In 1867, two years after America’s Civil War ended, 33 residents of St. Joseph County resolved to formally preserve local history. The organization they established 150 years ago is the second oldest historical society in Indiana. Today—as The History Museum—it is a thriving, impressive institution that collects and preserves over a half million objects in its collection, educates the public through immersive exhibits and programs, and interprets the past in myriad ways, all of which capture the essence of why history museums exist.
